AV Upgrade

I'm thinking of upgrading my home AV in the living room, starting off with a new TV stand and then a 50" 1080p. My question is where is the best place to look for the TV stand? I have two labradors so it needs to be quite a tall piece with plenty of storage below for consoles, amps, etc. Any advise appreciated.

Most people who go BIG consider the floating wall jobbie, looks really good if you have the skills, or the money!

Other than that I'd seriously consider getting a carpenter to knock a bespoke one up, you'll be surprised how much they'll quote you. Most of the everyday stands and stuff just look crappy imo?

I visited a few AV stores to actually see the stands, most look completely different from the photos on the net.

WAll mount it? but make sure they put in a HDMi cable, otherwise you can be a d1ck like me and undo it all to stick it in, then re do it when you change your home cinema kit!!!

Wall mount it? Parents have a 52" up on the wall and it looks great!
