Backing up ECU (RST)

I've had my car re-mapped with an RST for about six months now,
and when I originally read my ECU I saved it on the laptop.

I had a look at the folder today and I only have the original
cal. file, is there supposed to be another file in there?

When you backed up your original ECU did you have two files or one?

There should be an .rst file (i think) which is a backup of the entire software + calibration file. You can also just take a copy of the calibration file, .cal. You can choose what type of backup you do. If you haven't changed the version of the software on your ECU then the .cal should be sufficient to put the car back to standard.

There are also standard software versions on the fastchip site, so you could just download and install one of those.

Form some of the 172's there isn't a .rst file available from fastchip so it could well be that you simply updated the .cal file thus not needing to save your standard map.
