BANG!

Well thanks to some t**t who hadnt tied down his load properely I hit a tree left in the middle of the road at about 70mph! Was on a dual carriage way in the dark just after a bend. I was in the outside lane overtaking 3 cars and suddenly it was in front of me!

Managed to swerve a bit so hit front drivers side corner than BANG!:S

Steering went all funny car swerved towards the 3 cars but thankfully managed to just miss them! They carried on and i managed to coast over to the verge and park up. The car was then full of smoke! s**t its on fire so checked around and then realised the drivers side seat airbag had gone off! and that my ears were ringing!

2 mins later the police turned up to ask if I was alright and they had been called out because there was something in the road - told him yes there was something and i had hit it!

Any way the car has been recovered and looked at by a garage - seems like I got away relatively lightly:-

Drivers wheel cracked - tyre wrecked.
Front strut knackered
Drivers seat ruined with the airbag going off.

So strut being sorted tomorrow, got a seat sorted so has any one got 1 trophy turini?

Also what happens now the airbag was triggered - need resetting or? Only seat one went off as i have aftermarket steering wheel.

I know you probably don't feel very lucky,
but the fact that it's only going to cost you a wheel, tyre and one strut is a miracle,
could have easily written your car off.

Sorry to hear! Lucky it wasnt worse though.

My passenger side airbag went off in my 1.2 16v clio and i had to get a new seat obviously + an 'airbag computer' from renault which cost me 300 quid!!

Yes it was only later when sat thinking about it I realised how lucky i was - I had 2 passengers as well!

Airbag computer crap £300! hope not!

Something like that yeah, i cant remember exactly what was replaced etc though so there may have been a couple of other parts to go along with it but iirc it was 300 yes. Which is crazy :l

Had my airbag ecu reprogrammed today and it should be with me tomorrow.
if I works I will post a link to the guy doing the work. Cost next to nothing to do aswell.
but make sure you have replaced the airbags and also check your tensioners as I bet some have fired and they will need replacing before you fit a new or refurbished ecu.

Airbag computer crap £300! hope not!

There are multiple people on ebay that will repair your current ECU by erasing the crash data. I've had a few done now, £25.

The guy I use has an ebay name of ''connormbulger'' or similar. Great service, and very quick turnaround.
