Been to see a car...

  Meg R26 + Mk4 GTTDI
Dont know all that much about it at the minute. Guy had to leave work early today so going to see it properly tomorrow if the price is right etc. Only got some crappy fone pics.

1.2 16v Dynamique
2003
60k
12 months MOT
Unsure about tax as yet
Unsure about the belts too

A few things annoying me...

Both wing mirrors have some scraps. This one being the worst. Easy to fix? Expensive to replace?

Steering wheel seems to be well worn and possibly mouldy. Sign of sunroof leaking? Car may have been sitting about for a while because tax was up in January so Im not sure until I get inside it tomorrow.

All of the black trim seems to be faded and grey. Maybe it just because the car has be washed and polished? Anything I could use to get it back to black?

If anyone could answer any of my questions it would be greatly appreciated. Any comments, advice or criticism welcome.

Steven.

Definately need to be asking about the belt situation. The steering wheel is all too common to look like that, the plastics can be solved with some trim cleaner.... back to black etc etc. The scrapes on the mirrors arent that big a deal, easy replacements found or easy to spray the outer covers

So you dont think the steering wheel issue will have anything to do with a sun roof leak? The rest of the inside was spotless so I was just wondering why it was like that.

lol no its the sun does it. More than likely has a leaking sunroof regardless anyway :)

  200 Gordini
ask the right questions about that car!!

As for the trim, peanut butter will get that back to new

  182 Cup
When do the belts need doing on these? Cam and aux belts need doing like the sports? Just as expensive too?

Its either 5 years or 60,000miles i think. And its 6 years old so heres hoping but I duno. I think my expectations are too high because my car was mint in pretty much everyway. One small dent on the boot would be my only criticism but it was 8 years olds. To be expected really.

Crashed it sadly:( Stupid mistake.

Doesn't look too bad, it's similar to my current car. (First Car)
I know that you only recently passed your test (congrats) so i wouldn't really bother about having a 'perfect' car. Chances are that you may knock it into something or someone will scrape it with their car.
My advice is get a cheap runaround for a year or so, then upgrade to something a bit more perfect :D
Mine has a large scratch on the bonnet and i noticed today that someone has scraped the rear bumper..grr

  Meg R26 + Mk4 GTTDI
That works as an idea. Kinda like the idea of me keeping it standards. I say it but it means nothing. Its gota be perfect and the way I want it really. Love my cars:)

I know what you mean, im just the same :D
Im gonna sort out the couple of scratches on my car and then i was gonna get an RS Grill for it. Ive already put in some silvervisions and bought a dynamique spoiler :p And im also gonna buy a new gearknob because mine is completely knackered.
Thats all im gonna do to mine, dont wanna modify it too much because of insurance and also because its sometimes nice to keep it simple.

Although when I renew my insurance in December im gonna put on the OZ SuperTurismos that I have in my garage at the moment (came with the car when i bought it) :D

No service history.
But he knows the belts have been done at 35k. How does he know this with no history:S And why would the belts be done at 35k? And he's recomending I get them done again soon. Sounds dodgey.

i would leave it based on that. no SH, may as well have 161k as far as you could be concerned

  Ph1 172 + Combo van
Id leave that one if there is no service history. Dont take peoples word for it that its had the belts done as some wont even know what they are, they will just say yes. Make sure it has a stamp in the book from a garage. Trim can be easily restored but if there is scrapes on it, it would need replacing or colour coding.

Take your time mate. Its annoying when you dont have a car and you just want to buy one but you have to hold out for a decent one rather than be stuck with a piece of s**t.

Good luck.

  Meg R26 + Mk4 GTTDI
Cheers^^^ The sooner the better, yes, but i dont want stuck with something I dont want or like. Hopefully one comes along soon
