Coming from someone who started with the BF1942 Wake demo in mid 2002 and then played BF1942, RTR, SW, BF Vietnam, BF2 and beta tested BF2142 I can honestly say I think it's one of the worst games I've ever played.

Yes mate worse than BF-V. While that was bad atleast it had some sort of character to it and had a fairly realistic setting.

BF2142 for me is a cheap nasty mod for BF2 with no soul whatsoever.

I think that line sums it up, because it's not "real" I really don't have much interest when playing it, it's weird, kind of like planetside felt for me too.

That's how I felt. With BF1942 there was the WWII/history aspect of it you could relate to and with BF2 you could relate to the modern day vehicles and weapons. BF2142 is like something someone dreamed up over night.

Well, I've only given it half-an-hour, which is far from a proper test, but I tend to agree with you Griff.

There's an 'emptiness' to it that makes you almost redundant into what is going on around you. I thought the walkers would make for an awe-inspiring unit to avoid whilst playing as infantry, but they merely prove to be an annoyance and a distraction as you try to attack other infantry.

The Titan bit of it just doesn't work for me either. It's like you said with the previous BF games - there were things that you could immediately relate to. With this, you don't know what's good, bad, crap or generally superb. Maybe after a few more goes, I'll learn the map better and perhaps enjoy it more?

i aint even bothered with the demo, i'm not into futuristic stuff... or alien's... lol... BF2 is still quite fun to play once in a while with ya mates, but the screen shots n the trialer look w**k for 2142 ;x

BF2 is my favourite online game ever, because although it has bugs and stuff its still fun and looks great - 2142 is devoid of fun and the futurisitc setting doesnt help - you just cant relate to it at all.
2142 is a BF2 mod, pure and simple - same graphics engine, taking away medic abilities etc just so there is more to unlock is pathetic
Lets hope EA dont ruin the new C&C

The only saving grace with this chaps, is that all online BF2 scallies may jump-ship and switch to BF2142 instead. Thus leaving the BF2 servers free for people like us!

I think BF2 is overated so dont look like 2142 is even worth looking at after reading the above, think I'll stick to Red Orchestra Ostfront, best MP game imho

2142 is definately NOT on my shopping list any time soon
