Black Carpet Dye

  Bus Winker
Does anyone know of a good alternative to the Autoglym Black Dye?

I plan on taking my carpets out at the weekend and dying them but I thought I would ask before I fork out £40.

You won't be able to dye 182 carpets, not without them looking crap anyway.

Black dye is meant for re-dying black carpets. I know this because this is what I do. Dying blue/grey carpet with black dye will leave patches unless you're very very lucky.

Your best bet if the carpets are minging is to either fit new (2nd hand ones) or remove them properly and spend time cleaning them.

This is the stuff I use; http://www.trafalgardirect.co.uk/prods/93.html Although 5 Litres will be enough to do a house! lol

I used Autoglym Black Dye a few years back on my old 182 and they came out great. I took the carpet out and washed them first to get all the grime out and then sprayed them once they had dried. I didn't noticed any patches.

Mine aren't in particular bad condition at the moment so I might leave them, I just prefer the carpets being black.
