Bonnet cable

  Titanium 182
The bonnet on my 2002 Clio non sport doesn't open properly when I pull the lever from the inside of the car, I have to pull it a couple of times to make sure it has opened a little and then pull up on the bonnet before I can release the catch underneath, I was thinking it was to do with the bonnet cable, so I was wondering if anyone knew how I could tighten it or something to make it open properly?

There was a big recall on all ph2 bonnet latches, so cld try your luck at local dealers and see if they will replace, i had same problem before but my local dealers refused to even look at my car as they said it had already been done according to their system- even with the letter sent out from vosa. So I ended up cleaning latch mechanism and relubricating it, although no 'pop' when cable is pulled I can now get fingers underneath to lift it up

If you undo the 2 little bolts ( star bolts I think ) underneath the black plastic trim where the mechanism is on the slam panel, move the locking mount ever so slightly to the right ( 1mm max ) then tighten it up again. Try the bonnet release again to see if it works , if not rinse and repeat a couple of times. If it still doesn't cure it then the cable's probably stretched and you'll need to replace it (can be a real sod to do though).
