right, the Alpine 12" Type R and box retails for £250..........i can get it for less

thats for the Alpine sub/box deal thing so the box should be an ideal size

however, its cheaper just to buy a 12" box from work and the sub seperate

would i notice much difference in quality ?

Is it an alpine box or just a standard MDF box ? If its just MDF make sure to match the correct cc of the box to the sub and make sure its good quality (thick) MDF ! The quality should be the same really !

the Alpine thing is an Alpine box, with the sub already in it.......

the other is just a standard MDF box we sell at work......

ive got the dimensions now for the boxs we sell at work...........

Height in In - 12.72
Width in In - 16.6
Depth in In - 9.27

Used an online thing to work out the following....

Vol in cubic feet - 1.132
Vol in cubic In - 1957.379

Spkr displacement in cubic In - 0.01

does anyone have any info on what capacity box is recommended for the Alpine Type R 12" ?

The box u have at work sounds like it will ok, not sure what spec the alpine sub has but most 12s work well in a 1cube box

alpine recomment for 12" type r for a box of 0.7-1.0 cubic feet capacity. depending on what sound u are going 4 will depend on exactly what size u will want to go 4. optimum 4 the 12 is 0.85 cubic feet.

just got this out of instruction book as got a 10" type r and has details for all subs in it.
