brake disks and pads info!!!!



  1.6 16v
my brakes are on there way out and so i need a new set! i got a 1.6 16v clio!
do i just go standard again or upgrade!

was quoted £125 plus vat for standard!

any prices roughly for any upgraded ones????

upgrade mate. i upgraded on my 1.2 and paid £120 for BLACK DIAMOND grooved and xdrilled discs and PADS. including fitting it cost me 170 in total.

Stock are more than adequate after all they were ok for the 150hp Williams new fluid is the only thing you need there are upgrades ie DS2500/3000 pads but unless you drive very hard on track days a lot I'd not bother with them there more hastle.

i get alot of brake fade from my oe renault ones so i think im gonna get some grooved disks. do you think this will help with the fading?

Nope.
Get some decient fluid and then some ds2500's you'll need some good fluid though I need to bleed mine every few month with the ds2500s as the fluid boils. New lines would be advantagious but £50 or so extra.

I'd just chnage the fluid and check the pads/renew with stock as stock brakes survived in my car for ages on track days.

so one should stick with stock discs and just get uprated pads (like ebc green stuff) ?

grooved discs just for show then ?
