Cable from Sky dish to freeview box?

Currently got Sky + multiroom. Hardly using multiroom anymore and wanted to replace it with a freeview box. Not having a 'digital' ariel on the house only a sky dish, will a freeview box work using the coaxial cable from the Sky dish? i.e. does the Sky dish act as a 'digital' ariel?

A satellite dish, emphasis on the word "satellite", as an aerial?!?!

There's a hint in there somewhere.

The dish wont act as one but the cable will carry a freeview signal.

Simply remove the dish and replace it with an ariel and use the same cable.
(or buy a freesat box)

I know it won't work for Freeview, FreeSat is kinda in the name though!

I think you can get FreeSat+ for around £100, not bad IMHO

Just swap the sky box with a freesat box, from £50,

HD freesat from £100 (although the Humax is suppose to be the best I think) or

HD freesat recorder for £300 (but will need 2 cable feeds from the dish to the box to record one channel and watch another or to record 2, which may also require a new LNB).

Rough prices but most places similar.
