Cambelt Change

Ok, my mates valver is coming up to its cambelt change!! hes on 71k atm, & needs it doing soon!

Does anyone know of any cheap places that will do it that are near or in basingstoke??? Which is in hamphire! cheaper the better please!!!

well its not cheap ur after

its the actuall job that needs doing

new a mate that had his valver serviced and repaired at what he thought was a genuine garage that done all his previous work

well they chargeg him £300 odd and never did the actual job

and yes the belt eventually snapped and he needed a rebuilt in excess of £1000

tell him to do it now, mine went at about 66k......not good! very expensive!

wongy thats outrageous,tho ive heard stories like thjat so i try to d it all at home now, tho if i go to a garage in future i will ask to see the old parts that have been removed from the car.

did he get any compensation?

need to do mine now, from what ive asked going to cost me about £350 to have it done. after looking at it doesnt look like a job i want to take on myself!

Cambelt Change is around £125 +vat inc Belt as Adams_16V said. Thats a standard job price.

the price a was saying included tensioners and other bits. Was advised that it would be a gd idea to change it all when the job was being done. What have other people done?

i have also asked at a few garages that have said it would be about 5 hours labour to do it!

a lot of people take on the job then realise they cant do it as it aint a 5 min job, not worth the labour to do it

most people/ garages charge engine out for this job but it can be done without it out

my mate never got compensation as no way to prove it had not been done but he could tell from looking at the origional cam belt as it was far too warn to be a new belt replaced 10 k ago

you have been warned

i would only take it to a trusted mechanic for this job and make sure i saw the parts he changed over at the end when its such a big job that can cause so much damage

dont u have to drop the engine out to replace it ?

So around the 200 mark max? I always thought it was about 350....!

Does anyone know any places around Basingstoke that does this job?

been looking at bb tunings site, they will do the job for £157.50, assume the guys there are trusty.

assume fair few people have used them? any1 unhappy with anything they have done?
