yeah interested to know why you would want to? seems like it would be a lot of work and money for nothing really, thats just my take on it.
 
Yes it could and conversion from belts to chains was common practice in the super touring era where belt stretch compromised valve timing accuracy. These chain drives were primarily for accuracy though so weren't engineered to avoid change intervals and for the most part would have less service life than a belt.

You'd need a sealed cover, lubrication system and tensioner plus sprockets. Realistically no point.

lol, would cost you a bomb to develope, then you'd have all sorts of problems!

speaking from experience we have spent millions on chain systems at Jag and years of development has gone in!

not worth it for the effort! esp on a 1.2
