Can you remove a sump with the subframe still on?

You can in so far as I've done it. Can't get No 1 and No 4 big ends apart though in the car as there isn't enough room to get tools in.

Also the four fiddly f**kers on the gearbox side of the sump, when removing make sure you don't drop them into the bell housing.............. like I have obviously never done after reinstalling every fastener on the sump ;-)

Bendy Magnets = Best Friend LOL

You know its bad when you've got the bore scope out to see where the bolts gone ;-)

no.4 is awkward because of the oil pump, but you just need to get the crank to the right place and you can get to everything. No.1 I can't see anything would cause any difficulty??

I find it's more getting a stretch gauge in to do the big end fasteners back up thats the problem.
