I have a Canon 50mm f/1.8. Does extension tubes mean this can do better macro shots? :-S Lenses are confusing! Also could someone explain to me how come a macro lense can be used in a pinch as a portrait lense, but a portrait lense can't be used as a macro? (Or can it?!)

I'm looking at the Canon EF12 and EF25 atm... but our resident photography gurus will surely be able to give some advive to us trainees. lol.

The Canon tubes are way over priced, they have stronger clips etc but when your mounting a 50 f/1.8 on the end that weighs nothing its no biggy, at the end of the day its just air inside.

The Kenko or Jessops ef-s tubes are fine and much better value per mm but fiddly, working distance is poor and a flash unit becomes very important IMO.

50 f/1.8 + 1.4TC + 65mm tubes

Whereabouts dude?

Link me up.

Photography should have it's own syllabus @ GCSE. It's a f**king science in its own right. lol.

someone using kenko tubes on a 75-300 lens he said he was about 5ft away when he captured this !

Well I was beginning to wonder why they cost as much as they do. Still a lot of money for what's basically a mounting bracket. lol.

Think I'm gonna order those kenko ones.
