cant access secure sites?

just tonight i cant get access to msn, my emails, or any other site where the little lock appears in the bottom corner of the screen?!
normally when it does this i just use system restore back to a previous date when it worked and all is well, but this time is not working?
ive tried everything, system restore, checking setting, trying to think if i have installed a new program that could of knocked it off, but its just not working, i can get one other sites- like this one no problem, its just the secure sites.

can anyone help?

checked the firewall settings and what they or it is blocking? try open your internet browser and reset all possible settings under the advanced section. hope that helps

Thinking about it again, it might be security under internet options, make sure this is set to internet and check the level it's set to. If no luck try privacy settings also under internet options

im really dumb with computers, ive been onto the advanced settings and used restore default? been onto firewall under the internet settings and it says its turned off? when i do the msn troubleshooting it says my gateway appears to be offline?!
when i press repair it says it has, but it doesnt fix it? cos when i try to log in it says the gateway is still offline?

are you connected via a router? was it working ok before? if so unplug all the connections and turn all power off and just re-connect and boot up again. try that mate. sometimes routers can play up, if you have one anyway

well tried that and its still not working, i dunno what the hell it could be, its really pissing me off, im connected using a usb broadband modem, i disconnected it, took done a system restart to june where is was working fine that day cos i made the restore. like i say i can get on all other sites no problem, and normally a system restore works and this time its not

Hmmm that's really not right mate. Im a tad confused now :S JUST RESET EVERYTHING?!

if u are using norton internet security then i'm almost certain it will be causing it.

i come across a lot of people running norton with the same problem.

how the hell do i take norton off? it expired 2 years ago and i cant take it off, everytime i try to take it off i get error messages
