car checks

Hi members
just wondering what would be the best web site for checking out a cars history
im going looking at a 197 and i was told that the v5 is not with the car as the owners
have lost it a few times and the lad that has the car now is not the registered owner
the car is in ireland ??? the reg is DG56HSJ

Leave well alone, or at least make them apply for a replacement V5 from the DVLA before going ahead with a purchase. It only takes a week or so to receive it.
