The ring is 17 miles long. You'll see on the link. Amazing.

Apparently people are protesting against this as they will be creating tiny black holes and people are afraid they may become unstable and the Earth will swallow itself.

And yes, this is what the story was about in Dan Browns 'Angels and Demons'. Amazing read so...read it!

This experiment is taking place on the 10th September (wednesday).

Dunno what the fuss is about with the protesters tbh.

Do you really think the scientists would be risking their lives and the whole universes existance if there was a big chance of black holes becoming out of control just to find out how the big bang was created or whatever it is they are trying to find out about?

No, because if it was; there would be no point in finding out as they would be dead.

Amazing stuff, beyond the theory it's way to complicated for my tiny mind!

ps. Angels and Demons is Dan Brown's best imo, the end is a bit weird though.

Depends. Some will go to almost any lengths to prove a point. When the Yanks were refining the plutonium for the atomic bomb in WW2 - they were happily working next to the Columbia River which was having 27,000 gallons per hour of highly toxic and radioactive waste pumped into it.

Granted, there was a war on at the time - but even when they knew the risks - they still wanted to get to the end result.

The proof of "See - I was right all along" carries a lot of weight with the eggheads. ;)

I have a set of limited edition CERN playing cards, thats has details on everything they plan on doing and what everything does, all except the joker, where the world goes backwards through its own arsehole. LOL

I think it's amazing tbh! The potential to re-write what we have so far learnt about "physics". I understand it wont be fully operational (ie. attempting full speed collisions) for another 4 years, and I seriously doubt that will kill us!! On the other hand... the Polar Shift, and the Planetary Allignment on December 21 2012... hmm, thats when we've really had it LOL!!

Angels and Demons is a f**king amazing book, Incredible!! The film will be gash... I just hope it's not made by the people that made the DaVinci Code!

Unfortunately mate... its being made by Ron Howard... same as "The Da'sh*tty' code".
