changing ecu

Bought the mrs a rover 214 this week on a m plate. Looks like the ecu is shagged, can I just get another ecu from a breakers yard and fit it? or is it not that simple.

something as new as an m reg has probably got a factory fit immobiliser.i would check with a rover dealer to be sure.

My mums old metro (J reg 1.4) needed a new ecu and that was a simple swap over.
