I dont think there is really anything i want to remove lol i was thinkiing more engine side cheers tho

Tbh, I wouldnt bother spending ANY money on a 1.2. Just save up for a faster car when you can get one.

Trying to make a 1.2 more powerful is a waste of time.

Sport filter, if you have a bit more, a decent exhaust and a decat.
As said weight removal is a biggy..

Not much else you can do without silly cash after that.

Ignore the people who say don't spend cash on a 1.2, they're usually sport owners or saving up for one.
But it's true you won't get much out of the above said mods.

so true, of what ur gunna spend to even get any power gains that money could have been spent on buying/insuring a larger engined car.

my advice would be to hit up the treadmills and strip the car of its weight

thats the only thing worth doing mate

Yes I am a RS owner, but I did have a 1.2 before so I can comment on this. It depends on the persons situation, but the money you spend will add up to quite a lot, and the differences will be very minor.

Agreed.
Not everyone wants to save up for a slightly more powerful car like a RS.
Yes you can save up a bit of money and get a second hand sport with little NCB's.
But like me, I plan on having my car for 3-5ish years to build up NCB and buy a brand new car that is "fast" (that's not the reason for buying it though!)
So I don't see why I shouldn't spend money on this car if I'm having it for that long.
Hence why people shouldn't always jump the gun on these threads.
People aren't always looking to buy sports! :)

I've never said they are the be all and end all and yes there are much quicker cars out there but they're a lot more powerful and faster than a 1.2.
Waste of time doing anything to a 1.2 imo, it will never make it any faster than a 1.4 so whats the point?

Like it says above, on a 1.2 you will not get much more out of it by spending big money.

Weight and handling would be the main mods imo, get it slammed or even get coil overs depending on money and make sure they are set up properly. Doing things like putting a big zorst on and induction kit will only make it louder it wont be any faster (for the people willing to argue this YES it may improve BHP by 1 maybe 2 or even 3! but this is not noticable, might shave 0.05 of a 1/4 mile run!)

I had a 1.2 corsa when I passed my test and I put an air filter on it for a bit of extra noise and got some cheap 2nd hand coil overs of a mate of a mate and some 15" wheels. Got it all set up and loved it, so much more fun on an A road and was faster in the respect I could keep more speed through the corners.

You'll save yourself a lot of money, if you get some one to give you a spin in a much faster car.

Then you'll understand why people say "save up for something with a bigger engine"

After Addz took me out in his cooper s years ago, I knew I had to get something quicker than my 1.3 fiesta, rather than spend money on it.

It's completely pointless modifying a 1.2 without throwing really serious money at it TBH, and then you'll probably have more money in the modifications than the car. Save and buy a faster car.

1.2's aren't fast, just spend your money on making it look your own. If you don't plan to keep it 2+ years though, as said, save IMO.

You might spend £3-400 on an exhaust and filter and you'll literally get nothing for it. You'll make your car less attractive to potential buyers, it won't be faster and you'll lose money if you sell the bits on.

from past experience, save your monies until youve built a NCB, the money you dont waste on a car can then be put towards a better one on say your 21st when your insurance will drop drastically.

the is no point trying to get any power out of a 1.2, if you do want to spend money on it, go for handling and light weight. new suspension and strip it, the engine will never have any power

lower it, get a decent set of brakes, decat and filter then remap

and genral light weight bits like lighter alloys and removing spare wheel ect

should feel a bit quicker around the twisties and being able to brake that bit later for corners ect

wont be that good in a straight drag race, but should hold its own on twistys ect

just remember its a 1.2 and you are pritty limited hp wise

^shouldnt even bother with a remap, what are you going to make on a 1.2, maybe 3 bhp if your lucky. spend that money on a decent set of pads and discs, braided lines perhaps and some decent coilovers, will be a rocket around the twisties as i said before, it will never be a fast car without a larger capacity engine etc

Basically

You will get sod all out of a 1.2 tuning it without spending crazy amounts. Strip it or leave it alone.

Just as a thought, why not use the money you are going to spend on aftermarket stuff, on car care products? that way you will keep the car looking mint and well looked after, then in 2-5years when you come to sell it, you will get more money in your back pocket? thus resulting in more wonga to spend on a nippier motor?

just my 74p's worth.
