Cheap old stock

I this the time of year when companies start to release new stock??? If so, does that mean you can get decent savings on last years models. The reason I ask is cos Im after a new Head Unit, but if I can get one of last years models for a lot less then thats what Ill do!!

were you after any particular model. Pioneer and Kenwood have just changed their ranges over so we have some of the older models going cheaper than normal.

we are putting in the new stock...we have actually dropped our prices and only now do they compete with mail order/net...i laugh

So who do they actually price match against then? If they dont do it with mail order or internet companies..who else is left as theres not that many what I would call I.C.E. high street shops these days.

well you must understand that halfords is a massive store, we sell a vast array of stock...from bikes, to car cleaning, to roof racks etc etc..im sure you have been in one before.

Audio represents a very small section of the store, although you would be suprised how much we actually do sell! People just like the easy nature of buying from a store and prob most are ignorant off the massive savings available else where!

I normally go into halfords check it out on the stand and then get the model number and order it from a mag or off the net

I work for halfords too. We do quite a lot of price matches as their are about 4 local Car Audio Dealers but 3 of them people wont buy off cos their con merchants. They prefer to get their price and come to us.

With halfords you know youve got some comeback if owt goes wrong, where as small shops they could just say nope... were not fixin it. youve broke it. was fine in the first place.

One of my mates got his Head Unit fitted by Halfords and they connected up his aerial with sello tape!!!

My mate went into halfords to get a seal for his rover 220 gsi turbo and they said there was no such car, even when the lad went into the car park and looked at the engine he denied it existed!

yeah everyone hates halfords....at the end of the day they cant satisfy everyone...you try providing stock for every car on the road!

as for head unit fitting mate...i cant see how they can connect it with tape?

cause tbh a monkey could fit a head unit, its a 5 min job...and we supply aerial adapters of the shelf

haha this twonk in halfords told me he was putting a renault 19 2.0 16v turbo engine in his clio. I said it didnt exist and he said it did. If not he had a 172 engine in his garage to put in instead. arsehole!

it makes no sense to me why all these people go to halfords when motor world is so much cheaper i do think ripspeed make nicer stuff than the type vr stuff motor world

btw i work for motor world an i think its a much better company halfords is owned by boots and is also laying off loads of ppl

and they aint owned by boots any more. and the reason they are laying off people is because two men have taken over (they run homebase after its seperation) and they are walking round the company saying..."do you make us money" "no?" "ok bye"

i know the ins and the outs of halfords, and it aint all that, they are only interestede in shifiting stock there is no customer care, if u ever get a problem Head office at redditch would rather give the customer the benefit of the doubt over thier own staff,

the only reason u can go back to halfords is cos they dont care about the 1000s of radios which go back cos they sell hundreds of thousands of the bloody things,

oh and i belive they are down to the specialisits in the laying off department?

damn i reall wish i was still there NOT.

Are Halfords owned by them! Customer service will fall even more if the are owned by those peeps as all they are interested in is making a profit. Homebase are now owned by Argos and are recovering from the mess they were left in.

I got a job at Halfords the day after i got a job in the Car shop i am currently in. Needless to say i turned it down.

I dont know about all halfords but the one near me is so so bad!!!! My bro works there (in the bike bit) and he borrowed one of my old subs for a while, when it was out of the car and we disconnected his 6x9s. The guy at halfords told my bro i was an idiot for disconnecting the 6x9s, he said they sound better with a sub??????

We get so many people tell me stuff halfords have told them that is uter gash!!!!

I have two blokes from head office come inot my shop asking about products etc, then offered me a job in front of my boss. (as i gave them more information, better prices etc than their own staff) My boss went mental and kicked them out!!! lol

we all had to start somewhere. i was a Car audio specialist before i moved away,

pretty much cos it was going no where, not speciaised enough for me, plus pay and other benefits were so much better,

the bloke who runs audio in halfords (richard pounder) knows f**k all, all they care about is planograms and footfall,

i know for a fact that some bigger distributers (not mentioning any names) dont want anything to do with them,
