Chippin a Valva

Guys, im looking to unleash the horsies of wrath from beneath the bonnet of my rather timid valva and wondered how easy it was to chip one? Costs? Gains etc? Anyone done it?

To gain the benefits of a chip its best to have other mods first !! Id say exhaust and de cat with a panel filter THEN get a hillpower stage 2 chip !!

mines chipped - lets it rev to 7800, not that i ever do!

Dunno what gains ull get mines not been rolling roaded

So how much will a de cat cost? Im lookin a coupleof grand to get any real gains? I really cant aford that!

Superchip i think. If u get a full exhaust system and a decat + chip ur probly looking at about 10/15bhp

couple of grand no no !! De cat is £40 ish, SS exhaust about £200+, panel filter £40, Chip £200+

Bolt on mods dont usually give as much power as they state !! How much you got to spend !?? As you could have some headwork which may see more ponies !!

Well, ive got about £800 so a grand really (depending on ones overdraft!) Wot sort of head work could i have done?

BenR is the man to speak to !! He might even do it for you if you ask nicely !! Ask him how much he can do it for and whether or not cams, followers, springs, pulleys etc are all worth it compared to zaust, de cat etc !!

yep good advice all round.mitsi has got a pbv on his /mine(!)which gives it something aswell!

its nice to be able to change at 7200 in a race and not worry about limiter!
just go for Exhaust,decat and then if you can get a unichip but if not get a superchip-difference being you can reprogram a unichip!

Ive spoken to BB and Hill Power but is there any one else??

Preferably in South East for my benefit but Im sure others will be keen to know.

unichip is ur best bet. i had a HP chip and didnt do a dime for me other than rev limitor increase. no point revving to nearly 8k when peak power is around 6600.

On my last run at pod in the summer i changed at 6600 as apose to just before the limitor, and ran mi best time yet!

Ok then well ive got a red one. Its not the darker cherry coloured one but the lighter version. Its 95 - what colour is that coz i need to get a touch up stick?
