Cig Lighter Surround

Doubt this has been done before but i want to change the orange colour to a blue (To match my car). how would i go about this? what material should i use and do i need to change a lightbulb?.

If anyone tells me this cant be done then ill be damned cause im gonna do it!

yeah but what type of blue plastic allows light through, and where am i likely to get it?. Cutting it shouldnt be a problem.

well if ya know what ya doing with a soldering iron then i shouldnt see why ya couldnt put some leds in series and mod it like that. but ya would need a clear surround to start with as the blue wont work well through the orange plastic.

go to an autojumble and pick up the cigarette lighter unit in the colour you want, only cost a couple of quid and probably a lot easier
