Cigarette Lighter Problems

I wonder if you can help, the previous owner of my Clio stuck shitty blue neons in the foot wells and to get the power, cut stright into the cables behind the cigarette lighter.

Now it hardly works unless i jiggle it about. I have a NavMan and it wont work in the cigarette lighter.

I was wondering how much it would cost to buy one and then fit it myself or go to a garage to get it sorted? :dapprove:

Well the metel in the actaule lighter has started to rust/rerode dont know why!

He wired it up really badly so i dont know if that has made the metal rust?:dapprove:

Quick tip, unscrew he screw at the bottom of the cigarette lighter (think its a hex) and the pull out the bottom part which this screw holds in. then you can give it a little clean and it should make a conection, if that is the problem

Where would i get a hex screw from??? :S

i used nail varnisha nd a tooth brush but didnt do anything that much?

Yeah it worked on my mates lighter! (Corsa) cleaned up well nice!

also didnt have any white spirit!

you will get a hex screw driver from most hardware shops, if ur not sure on size just get a set should only be around a fiver depending on quality you want.
