Ive seen snow foam mentioned a lot but im wondering what it is?
also what is a good value for money machine polisher as im only a student and only got a limited budget

Got my megs (g220) polisher for £180 with 3 pads and some products about 9 months ago from Clean your car. Good bit of kit but have no need for it now as i have swirl free fresh paint.. give it 3 months :D

There are cheaper options but its a good safe bet.

Silverline rotary might be the best bet for you, Just be careful with it, They can get the paint hot in no time

so do i get that and just attach it to a hose. sorry if i sound stupid haha!

It's dependant upon the type of pressure washer you have but they come with different fittings. Mine is the Karcher type and it produces incredibly thick foam. However, having used it a few times with different solutions I am not certain that the benefits are there.

If you are detailing, buy a snow foam and karcher washer. If you are just washing, I promise you it is a stage that is unecessary for just washing the car. You are talking about 45 quid for the foam lance, 150 for the pressure washer and 15 quid on foam.

With regards to the polisher, what are you trying to achieve? A rotary without practise and prior knowledge/experience of machine polishing.

I will say this again (not being an arse, just making sure I help you :)), machine polishing is not something that you can just pick up and go straight into. If you have someone close by who can show you how to use it, yes, buy one, you will use it for every car you own. But you need to practise before going anywhere near your car :)

yeahh i no a few people who no how to use them, and im sure they whouldnt mind showing me how to use one myself, you seem to no your stuff mate, got any recommendations on polishers?

Megs G220 is a very good machine, but there have been a few that have gone wrong. They were replaced straight away, but I would personally go for the Kestrel fella;

Coupled with a couple of spot pads/backing plate to suit. Remember that this is the polishing stage. If you want to do the car properly, there are a number of other stages (claying, sealing, trim care etc) that are required, and believe me, it soon adds up!

Hell of a lot cheaper than it was when I first started!!

yeahhh, im not really into detailing, jus want it to look good to normal passers by, if you no what i mean?

Totally understand.

In that case, why not get the guys and girls near you that have/know how to use the machine polisher to do your car, then just stay on top of the washing with a guide/decent washing methods?

Unless you are going to do it time and time again, I wouldn't personally buy a polisher :)

no problem. they have been sat at home for the last month, so a couple of weeks wont hurt :)

was going to put them on eBay, but i'll wait to see if you want one first

i usually just polish my beemer by hand, looks good enough for me. i use Autoglym ERP and GRP

Lol.

Might be worth looking at SRP and EGP, i.e. Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection ;)

+1 on that for starters.

As said it might be an idea to clean your car up and clay it yourself, then get somebody with experience to machine polish it. That way you can observe on techniques and find out a bit more. All you will need to do then is maintain the finish by washing and waxing for a while!

If you're decided on having a go yourself, I bought a Kestrel DAS-6 from i4detailing online at under £80 delivered. Have a look at some machine polishing guides on detailing world to get the basics.

For the winter when all the salts about and its too cold on your hands to wash the car, All i do with mine is use PH neutral snow foam (on the pressure washer), Foam it up and let it dwell, Rinse and repeat, Dont touch it with a towel afterwards, But its very effective i found at cleaning just letting it soak in.

Does for a winter wash anyway lol
