Clio 1.5dci mk4

I’m looking at buying a 64 plate 1.5dci. But the gearstick has excessive play. Doesn’t make a difference if it’s in gear or not it’s like a wooden spoon in a mixing bowl. Doesn’t jump out of gear at all. Just looking for some advice if anyone has experienced this before and what causes it. There’s no excessive engine movement (dogbone mount play). Any advice would be appreciated

Guessing its cable shift, id start by looking at the cables/bracket that holds them onto the gearbox.
