computer's date & clock keeps going wrong

when i shut down & turn it off (usually at the mains) when i turn it on again it displays the date & time of when i switched it off last:S

How do i correct it? every time i turn it on I have to put the date & time right !!
I'm using xp.

the computer has the box clicked for daylight saving options (is that it ??) as we haven't changed any of the settings, it just does it !

any ideas ?

u shouldnt really keep swithing it off by the wall cos it might starting messing up with bios settings if the battery is low.

Depends really. I've got a pc that's about 6 years old and working fine on it's original battery (hardly ever gets used mind), yet my bro has a pc that's about 3 or 4 years old and the battery is dying

how hard is it to change the battery ?? can you do it yourself ?
the computer is an Evesham - I don't know what model (well not to hand) but it was quite a good one.

excellent, thanks. i'll just shut it down tonight & leave it on at the wall.

Cheers for the info.

The battery you're after is usually a Panasonic one - roughly the size of a 10p piece. I think they have a part number of CR-52 or LR-52, something like that. Most camera shops would probably stock them, I think?
