Condensation problem

  3 Series xdrive
Hi folks, looking for some help, my 182 keeps steaming up.

everytime i have the heaters on (without the AC on) the windows steam up and i have to open a window to clear it, i close the window again and it just steams up again. The recirculation button is off(never use it) And i cant see any water leaks anywhere, it all seems dry. Sometimes get a bit of a damp smell with the heater on while car is warming up!

Anyone had this problem before?

Cheers,
Daz.

if there is any damp in the car it will do it. so if you have any maccy's drink or anything that is wet and can get into the air (obviously a sealed bottle of coke wouldnt do this)

Have you checked underneath the car to see if any of your bungs are missing, like the ones under the seat etc.

Put your hand under the car, they are where the seat bolts in just past the sill, should be three each side.

Try changing the cabin filter... these get damp and cause steaming issues.

visualy check all your door/window seals including the front window

moisture is getting in somewhere

is your car stripped out?

Spent a few hours at the weekend checking everywhere, could not find any leaks/damp patches, and the fact that the heaters smell a bit damp when heating up makes me think its not a leak, unless its into the heater system?

Ok, think i might have found a possible leak, the wiper part of the skuttle panel (NOT the part you take off when changing the cabin filter) does not sit flush against the windscreen, thus the water is going down under (no where near the heater motor tho) could this be the cause of my condensation problem? does anyone elses not sit flush against the windscreen?

What would be a suitable glue/sealent to stick this down to the windscreen?

Cheers,
Daz.
