Connect a usb stick to a hifi

Anyone know of any adapters I can use to connect a usb stick to an existing hifi?

lol well I'm about to get a 8/16GB memory stick for my car hifi. Don't really want an mp3 player as i want it tiny to carry in my pocket and so no cables as usb port is on front on HU.

Just thought a ps3 will play mp3 through usb wont it? Poss to do this on a ps2 in the meantime before I get a ps3?

Well basically I want to listen to it out of my hifi rather than throught my laptop and pc speakers.

My ps2 (and ps3 when I get it) is constantly connected to my hifi, its the only way to hear sound from my ps2 due to my set up, so don't mind playing it through ps2/ps3 if poss.

Or was wondering if there are small usb adapters that can play the usb stick and transfer into the hifi via RCA or 3.5mm jack. I thought there once was usb mp3 player which was basically a usb stick that connect into a usb player that headphones were then connected into, was a while ago tho.

I dont think you could connect your usb stick to the hifi directly but you could get a wire from your headphone to RCA and put it in aux input on your hifi.. not sure about the ps3 as I have a 360 but I know i can plug my iPod into the 360 (so may be possible with usb storage device) which is connected to my surround sound and play it through that way.. or just stream straight from my pc to 360.. can you stream to ps3? or is it a microsoft thing?

Yeah I got the headphone to RCA cable which is what I would use if I could find that thing that connects to usb sticks.

I think you an stream to ps3 as well. If a ps3 can play music from usb that'll be fine for me, I'll jut wait a couple of months till I get my ps3. Thanks mate.

if you got the cable just plug it into your laptop/pc then use cable to connect to hifi, no extra deviceneeded

and no worries.. not been much help really ^^

I don't want to connect my laptop directly to my hifi cos they're on opposite sides of the room and my laptop can't output bass through the headphone connection, maybe cos its a business spec laptop, they lowered they bass output? :S God knows but bass sucks on it, checked drivers and all.

Did think about a new hifi but doubt a usb system will beat my technics amp and kef speakers for sound.

The other way is too much money and inconvenience tbh.

I'll just use it as another excuse to buy a ps3 rather than to reduce my student loan lol

Same here, got orb on the pc and stream music and video wirelessly to ps3

it's a really funky feature, Windows Media Player will do it.

Can even stream stuff from my N95, as a media server to the PS3. Not as easy or reliable tho.
