Connecting xbox to pc

when i plug my xbox (none 360) to my pc's ethernet cable it does nothing at all, any ideas?

the only reason why there is a network connection for the xbox orig is so that you can connect for xbox live you need a modified version of the software on the xbox if u want to do anything more

Yeah just want to conect to my pc, so i can use the wireless net on it, nothing more.

ok u need to make sure u have a crossover cat 5e cable and that on your network setting on the computer you are plugging the cable into that it is set to share its connection
