Need people's opinions.
I recently signed up to a new O2 contract in store ,
£35 per month with 400 x/net mins and 100 txt's plus free long weekend calls.
I was going to cancel my old O2 online contract which was
£30 per month with 200 x/net mins and 500 txt's.
Now when on the phone with them they said instead of cancelling go onto Pay As You Go, so they ordered me a sim card and gave me a PAC code to transfer my number. However after waiting no sim arrived, so they sent me another one and again nothing arrived.
I rang them again to get another sent and it then arrived, or so i thought!
I rang them the other day to transfer my old number to the new PAYG sim however the sim O2 sent me was another contract sim, so no use to me. They said they would send another one but as i explained to them by the time it arrives and the number is sorted the date would be past the 15th of august which would in turn activate another month of my old contract, so i would have to pay another £30 for only a few days notice, also by this time i was well pissed off as i had been on the phone over 1 hour and spoke to 8 different people in various departments.
After i explained all this and asked to cancel i eventually got through to the retentions, who are the most helpful people by far with in the whole of O2.
I explained my story to the bloke there and he said he has credited my account with £30 to cover the line rental for the month that would over run to me changing to PAYG, he then ordered me another sim card and then asked me why i was cancelling.
After i told him that O2 store gave me the phone and contract i wanted he then told me about a contract which he could set me up on. Basically he has dropped my line rental to £10 per month, for this i get 100 x/mins and 500 txt's. But because i was due to upgrade instead of a new phone i have been given £100 in credit which means i wouldnt have to pay anything per month for this contract, but also because had previously credited the account with the £30 i have a total of £130 in credit which is being used to pay this contract for the year.
However today the PAYG sim card arrived and its got me thinking, would i be better off just changing to PAYG?
Im a bit unsure on having two contracts on the run (especailly one with loads of mins and the other with loads of txts), i also dont like to carry two phones around with me and the PAYG idea was only to be used as a backup, however this deal is quite good but i feel it would be wasted due to me not using it much.
What would you do in this situation?
