cutting out

hello all i am having a bit of a prob where my car (mk2 ph1 172) keeps cutting out when u come to a junction or when the rev's are right down on tick over, now i have just fitted a new head & cambelt but the car was sat for 6 mounths and i have only bin driving it again since the 1st of jan, i know the manifold is blowing a tiney bit, could this be affecting the lamda?

I would have thought so yes, sort the blowing out.
