  RB 182 FF/ CUP PACKS
I reckon it depends where you live - inside the M25 the coverage is probably quite good, but I suspect North Wales isn't too brilliant !

well im north yorkshire so id hope it would be ok my thinking is i hardly ever listen to cd's in the car its always the radio then its only radio 1 and 2 viking fm stray fm and minster fm so i dunno if it would be worth it

Yes I do, and would never go back now.

Much better choice of radio stations.

You can get all the Nationals like R1.2.3.4.Classic Fm etc but in addition there are a number of specialist stations broadcasting various types of music, I listen to Capital Life all day long. NO COMMERCIALS, No Questionable Djs like Chris Moyles, just music and the news on the hour.

The radio text data is great too if you hear a tune and you dont know what it is, it tells you !!

The reception is not a problem where i drive which is mainly the midlands and South East.

Have a look at http://www.ukdigitalradio.com/home/default.asp

hmm might not be bad then and id asume they also have a anologue tuner aswell for when you are in one of those hard to reach areas

Has

  RS 182 - Black Gold
Best thing i ever got for mine!

Had it in there for 3-4 years now.
Got the Pioneer add on unit.

Hooked up to another antenna in the boot.

Much better choice and sound quality is great. Main reason to get it was to get my fav London stations up in Coventry.

Well worth the "upgrade" ;)

  Milltek'd 182
can you use it with an analogue head unit? my radio reception is rubbish, so i'm pretty interested in this too...!!

edit: forget that, just read the link above, i would like one but they are pretty expensive!

You can get some relatively decent blaupunkt ones for about £100 on ebay: Woodstock DAB52/53/54 (The latter being newest)

If you want a nice CD/DAB tuner to go in a Clio, have a look at this one, its very neat and would look the part if you have a silver surround. It has input for CD changer or Ipod.

We have one of these in our box and it very very good. I picked it up on Ebay for £90, brand new.

To answer an earlier question from Mc Bunny, yes it has a standard stereo RDS receiver also. (AM as well if you must:dead: )

Absolutely fantastic the radio stations are so clear!

I think they are going over to a new standard soon, making the current ones obsolete.

I wonder why car manufacturers have been so slow on the uptake?

Absolute nonsense, this is how rumours start.

What you have probably read and clearly mis-understood, is there will eventually be a change over from analogue to digital radio the same way as TV is changing.

For Radio Its a few years off yet, but in the meantime the roll out of DAB services continues for those that want to make the change now.

The reason the car makers are holding off is because of the lack of a standardised system for markets other than Europe. The car audio makers for the same reason. (Alpine, Kenwood, Sony, s biggest market by far, is the US)

The USA has been trying to promote a satellite based systems for 10 years and they believed that it would be be adopted in Europe. But as we don't have the same population spread issues as the USA, a land based system is cheaper and easier to install.

The car makers wont make a move to fit as a standard until the demand is there. However, It is available as an option on top line German cars now.

Err, no, I'm not talking of an analogue to digital changeover.

I'm talking of the change from DAB to DAB2 or DAB+ or whatever else they decide to call it.

They will probably take so long changing over that whatever one you buy will be broken/sold long before.
