Direct Line

When I first got insured on direct line with my 106 they said that they don't insure people with aftermarket alloys unless they're over 25, but I didn't ask about other mods. Now i have my clio i want to mod it. is anyone else here under 25 with direct line, and have you had any problems declaring mods with them?

My mate is, he wrote of his golf and they took a freeky at the wheels he had. Nearly didnt get paid. He has been told if he mods again and crashes then no payout.

You may want to declare the magic tree with them too, they are that strict.

Air freshner, lol.

Direct Line are not Mod friendly at all.

I would be VERY surprised if you're allowed any mods under 25. I think they are pretty strict over 25 too.

lol.

i know that direct line aren't that mod friendly, but they were the cheapest insurance i could get. swinton, supposedly mod and young driver friendly quoted me £1000 more than my current price, and adrian flux quoted me £200 more. i'm gonna get my years no claims first before i change though.

What mods are you thinking of doing?

Just exterior mods?

Have you tried Quinn Direct Insurance - You can do whatever you want to your car, so long as you dont touch the engine. Thats a huge bonus for me.

They generally are among the cheapest for first time drivers.

Just get a few years NCB and then the world is your lobster.

atm i've got renault alloys on it so not worried about alloys, but i just want to lower it, stick an induction kit on, and possibly change the rear lights and a back box depending on the financial situation.

never heard of them

Just save the money for the next 10 months, and then when you have a years NCB under your belt, you can change companies and mod it, or get a faster car.

I had to wait 5 months to put my alloys on while I changed insurance companies as DL didn't allow mods, just meant that I could get it lowered at the same time, and didn't have to have a 4*4 for a month or 2 while I saved.

Was it, wow, im getting quoted 11xx in my first year of driving.

Mind you TPFT.
i'm 19 and fair enough i've only been driving for 4 months, but still, if these companies are supposed to offer cheap insurance for first time drivers then they're crap! i want fully comp though as you never know whats going to happen. cheers for the link though.

The age you are, and the ammount of time you have been driving doesnt really mean you need Fully Comp. Personally i dislike it due to my age and the age of my car.
1998, i would hate to see my car smashed but im careful and ive nearly made my 1 year.
