DirectX download problems..

  BMW M3
Hi there,

Just wondering if any of you computer wizards can help me with this one.

Been trying to download DirectX 9.0c off Microsofts website and i get quite far.

It "downloads components" and then moves on to install them and i get an error message saying " A cabinet file nessessary for installation cannot be trusted".

I have lowered the security settings and even turned them off for a short time and nothing works.

Have also phoned microsoft and they said i should speak to dell but after waiting on the phone 10mins when they said 5, i hung up. Before spending any more money with them i thought i should ask on here as i asume quite alot of people on here have greater computer knowledge then me.

Thanks

Jus

DirectX 9.0c gives error "A cabinet file is necessary for installation and cannot be trusted." ERROR during installation. This problem happens in most cases due to system corruption or users disabling their cryptography services. Please try the following steps to see if it resolves the issue.

1: Make sure your cryptography services are enabled. To do this, go to my computer | manage | services and applications | services. Then go to cryptography services properties and make sure the service is started and startup type is set to automatic.

2: If you are running Windows on a FAT32 drive, run scandisk.

3: Try the resolution steps in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813442.

4: Try the resolution steps in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;822798.

4: Remove temporary files in %temp% and (if installing end-user runtime)
%windir%\system32\directx\websetup Error

try downloading it as a file and running it on your PC locally ( i assume you are downloading it currently via a wizard ).
