Since I picked up my 182 a couple of weeks ago I have loads of idiots trying to get in my boot and its doing my head in :(

ANGER

  Dyson
Some people see the twin exhausts a bit chavvy and think they are non standard. Just slow down then boot it off into the distance.

Hope you're enjoying the car.

LOL I'm lost..

Do you mean people tailgating mate, or people trying to break in on the principal you've got a system in there with the 182 being a rather nice sporty vehicle?

If it's tailgating... Either leave a lot of room between you and the car infont of you so you've got extra braking time taking into consideration the d1ck behind you, or pull over and let them through, your 182 is too important to risk a claim ;)

If it's people trying to break in, reverse closely against walls when parked ;)

Pete.

Yeah usually some di** in a chaved up motor. Crawling along really winds them up! :rasp:

  Lots of Alfas
I noticed the same going from a 1.2 to a 172, mainly from Golf and CTR drivers that think they are faster. ;) Saying that it must be worse for 182 drivers as the 172mk1s look a little bit stealth.

  182 Full Fatt!
I get it in the Clio but never in the Subaru.
I guess some feel they have a chance. I had some guy in a Civic Type R last night driving like a real dick trying to make a point.
Funny really as they have a better chance of beating me in the Subaru as it's such a hard car to launch right, it bogs down really easily.
The Clio just goooooooooooes!!!:rasp:

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf
I used to get it all the time.Wait for ten seconds doing 20mph in 1st then boot it to 100+mph,they wont bother you again

Had an "episode" coming home from work Friday. Some plonker in a bazza'd up VTR in my boot along a residential B road for about 5 miles, doing all the usual Boy Racer stunts ie. dropping back 20 yards then booting it, feigning overtaking etc. I just waited until we got to the M4 slip road, nailed it up to 70mph, waited about 20secs for the punk to catch up then let him pass whilst yawning at him.

I may get a gun fixed to the roof of my car facing backwards and just shoot chavs :) done

  Tangoed Works
I normally get it with the weedy engined Mercs :p

Lol those C180 boys who think their car is everything and can take anyone! They dont stand a chance.

TBH never get anyone tailgating me, think everyone down here knows the coo with the car and knows it will have to get in to silly speeds to take me if they have a significantly higher powered car. Im game for that though so bring it on! lol

Afternoon all, Am the very proud owner of a 53 plate fully loaded 172, new to the clio sport movement until recently and blimey, every one wants a piece when your driving, your dead right and right also in suggesting the 10 second at 20mph then boot it, works a treat, there really isnt that much on the road that could keep up, is there? My mate has a civic type r on a 53 also and he keeps telling me his would p!ss all over my pride and joy, would it?

Not much it in realy as speeds climb though the Hp of the CTR will have it but thats big speeds.

I was hoping that was the case, been looking on youtube etc and it's mainly CTR beating the 172, I know the CTR is nearly 200bhp but its a few feet longer too...

Was thinking about a superchip then someone on the forum said its not really worth it unless I get a good induction kit and a nice exhaust system too? Induction kit is on the cards but im worried about the exhaust compromising the looks, dont want to look chavvy, its a discreet looking 172 and its always good on approach to overtaking Paxo's and civic's as they think its a bogstandard in the rear view mirror, I am in love with this car, seriously!

The you tubes will be higher speeds videos etc realy I'd guess.

Superchiop i don't like you need a custom remap and the best value for money modification is the intake manifold reworking there loads of places do it BenR on here (angleworks) would be my preference there all about £150 i think.

Ktec do a stealthy exhaust doesn't stick out and quite on normal driving I belive.

Get a decat or sports cat idealy as well and unplug the second lambeda sensor if you doing this sor of things stock cact is quite restrictive.

Sound advice, I'll check out the exhausts then, been looking at ktec, nice site but dangerous on the visa.... Is the standard exhaust system on the clio sprt pants then? Is there much gain to be had from a new system?

Stock cat is a restriction the stock exhaust biggest issue is that it fails due to the weight there not enough weel designed mounting point get an extra mount and stock system lasts forever but they fail in about 3 years often. at the back box to rear pipe. This is why people upgrade.

Gains arn't huge realy though but its what you need for more power realy.

normally after so long the back box will drop off ...... a good stainless steel system has a lifetime guarantee and will give you a few bhp but will sound alot better , will be larger than the original and less restrictive , better flowing in other words , not many gains but will feel better too

I'd be up for that, sent him a mail earlier just to check in, seems like a sound guy, was telling me about the meet, go karting etc, sounds like fun to me. This site is very cool I have to say, never used a forum before or joined "a club", it's the enthusiasm for the car I guess.
