If you're fully comp, it will normally (need to check paperwork) allow you to drive (with permission) someone else's car under 3rd party liability.

  A4 Avant & A3
when i was with tesco's insurance it stated that IF you are 25 or over & Fully Comp then you are insured 3rd party on any other cars (with owners permission obviously)

I'm Fully comp with privilege and i Can drive other cars. (but i am over 25)
I'm not sure if the age bit is still the case, just look through your docs, it'll say in there somewhere..

Like they said, it is completely down to your own policy. I've been fully comp for several years but have never had a policy which has allowed me to drive any car other than my own.

most companies will allow the driving of other vehicles under 3rd party cover if they policy is fully comp and the driver is over 25. Some insurance companies offer it to over 21's norwich union and elephant do
check your paperwork and if unsure speak to the insurance provider

same here.

my insurance certificate specically stated on the back that i am covered to drive another car 3rd TPTF aslong as it isnt hired or registered in my name.

i used to be able to drive my brothers punto turbo round at 17..

BUT MOST insurance companies will have an age limit on it. usually 25.

its a common misinterpretation that anyone fully comp can drive ny other car...
most policies dont allow it to under 25's else wed all have a 1.0 metro registered in our name and insured fully comp, and be drivign round in evos registered and insured in our mums name cheap as fook.

Most insurers will only cover you on other cars if you are 25+.

I can drive my misses car as I am an named driver on her policy, and vice versa.

Also means we are covered fully comp on both vehicles.

If you drive another car under your policy its only 3rd party cover, the least cover you can get.

Its a hell of a risk if you driving anthing of value IMHO. Crash you get sweet FA back.

well thats why you get insured properly on it.. i mean like full comp.

Some insurance policies cover you fully comp on all cars.. or if its your partner get them to add you as a named driver.

I'm with elephant.co.uk, I'm 24 and unless I've misread my paperwork (which I don't think I have) I am only insured to drive my own car.

Yep elephant is 25 & over.
I asked when I was 24 & they said you had to be 25. I called them up the other month (i'm 25 now) and it was a tenner to 'amend' the policy.

elephant's policy of charging you to make amendments is pants IMO. However you can reduce it's affect by making the changes online. Send them an e-mail, they give you a price and you send them another one confirming it. They don't charge as much this way.

It REALLY annoys me that when I get a courtesy car when my 172 is in the garage, elephant make me pay £15 to insure the courtesy car (1.2 clio) for 2 days use, pff. They should just be glad I'm driving a shitty 1.2 for 2 days of my policy instead of "the beast".
