just opened my mail in my mothers house and ive got a letter saying that my car has gon ethrough red light with day time it was me driving so ive got to fill in the fom and senfd it back but is this normal or is im more serious wil i have to go to court.

ps the letter doesnt mention anything about points or fine or anything??

It should just be a standard penalty of three points and a fine mate which as far as I know is the normal penalty for getting caught by a traffic light camera - unless you went through 10 seconds after it went red and at double the speed limit.

yep, 3 points and fine id assume.... was it you driving? do you remember doing it? you can always ask for photographic evidence

dont think speed is too much of a factor... youll get done going 5mph if its through a red light?

Sounds like the usual notice of intended prosectution that you get with speeding tickets.

Not unless he is pushing 12 points (as S2 PTH said)

It costs the CPS / The Police too much money to take people to court, so they just send you a NIP, you plead guilty (by filling it in IIRC) and then you are sentanced (3 Points and £60).

The only reason they take you to court is if there is a high chance that you will lose your liscence, which unless you are on 9 points, wont happen for a red light offence. Just the same as 36 in a 30, or any other minor SP30/40 offence.

Did the trick for me anyway, i sent off one of the letters i found on there when i got a letter accusing me of 42 in a 30 - edited it with my details, and mysteriously, i didnt hear anything more of the matter (this was over 2 years ago now).

Mine went to court on Thursday, Friday morning my license came back with 3 more points and a speeding tax of £95!! even though they have penned £100 on my license.

Not as bad as I was expecting to be honest.
