Earth point for Amp?

Hi - newbie to the forums here :)

Unfortunatley I don't drive a Clio, but my work colleague does. I have recently fitted a sub and amp for him, but it doesn't work.

All of the wiring has been checked, the HU has been checked, the Amp has been checked, the sub has been checked. By checked, I mean installed in my car.

I have dropped my multimeter across the + and - terminals on the amp and am only seeing a 2.3v reading, which leads me to believe that the earth is faulty. Where is your amp earth lead secured?

I secured the amp underneath the plate that is held down by the 17mm bolt that holds the seat belt clips in place (having removed the paint).

The car is a 53 reg Clio 1.4.

Many thanks for your help :)

i lifted the boot carpet, sanded back some paint and drilled a hole in the boot floor. I then attached the earth cable and held it all in place with a nut and bolt from underneith. Then i sealed it with silicone and repainted the metal to prevent corrosion. Worked a treat.

i used my seat belt bolt in the rear

it does work but it didn't the first time

if you look at the plastic screw thing for the light (very techinical.lol) its about 2 inches down from it and 2 inches towards the middle, taking off the plastic trim covering where the boot lock is will allow easier access to the bolts as the carpet is underneath the plastic if that makes sense

the boot catch, i stripped the wire (including the metal connector) and tightened it down under that. put the plastic cover on and works a treat

its purely cos its not terminalled as if its only bare wire it can break off as wire can fall apart so easy so a terminal keeps it more rigid and in place as it cant be pulled off
