ECU reprogramming?

does anyone know anything about this? My 172 cup is at renault getting its belts done etc and my mate asked if my car was mapped, which it isn't, so he then asked had it been reprogrammed at any point, which it hasn't so he said it will be getting done. So what does this mean?

I assume this is a standard but updated map being uploaded onto the ECU

hopefully that is the case, although my mate didn't say anything about it being free, but didn't say it was costing extra. Aww well

Only other thing i can think of is it being the same thing offered to 197 owners, the cold start fix.

Hopefully someone comes along and knows whats going on!!!

newer ecu firmware which would reprogram / update the map as well. Kinda like phone firmware change now and again if something has been found or improved but i imagine he was checking if you had a remap as it would have overwritten it

Thats what i have been told, he noticed it was lumpy on idle and asked if it was mapped, he said that this update should sort the idle, in the same way the 197 gets fixed, so i agreed but im not sure if i will be charged, he never said. I'll find out tomoro.

it was free, just got the car back and it seems a lot less lumpy at idle and a bit smoother all round, so im happy, only thing is the engine seems to have a bit more play so im thinking maybe one of the mounts hasn't been tightened properly, the one on the left hand side that is visiable seems to move more than it did, so what should i do?
