EGR Valve? Quick question

can i run the car without this valve? what effect will it have?

Permanently? If it has failed, as a quick fix the AA/RAC often twist it round, and just put the one bolt in so its permanently 'off' as it where.

They can coke up and get that covered in shite that they jam closed, remove it and give it a clean up with a wire brush or if your lucky a parts washer.

Its to reduce emissions Renault have a tool that allows them to plug it onto the EGR valve and operate it via a switch, which will let them see if it works.

Ok thanks, i ve been to renault and they have said that its £230 to get it replaced. i spoke to a non renault mechanic who said he can get the part for £117, he also said that he can bypass the valve.

will by passing the valve cause any change in performance?

Not sure it'd make a major difference, why would you want to anyway?

You can have the valve turned off if you have it remaped custom wise.

Bypassing the valves not a good idea they system uses it at low rpm.
