Electric windows stopped....plus service light

  255 V6 Black Gold
I have just finished fitting all new sound system in my car, so i have been fiddling around near the hinge area of the front doors were all the wires run through etc.

Yesterday i did the right hand door, the window stopped working. Quick fiddle around with the wires (literally just pushing it side to side like you do with the connection under the passenger seat when the airbag light comes on) then it started working.

Today i did the left hand side, and that stopped working. I fiddled with wires and that didnt work. Drivers side had also stopped again. Now the drivers side works if i simply grab and push the bunch of wires and hold them tight, soon as you let the tention go it stops working.

Why would it do this? anyone else had this problem. Its not the sort of weather recently were i can afford for windows not to be working.

Anyone got any pointers>?

You need to check the connections make sure that they are pushed in securely. check your wiring for any cracks or breaks. Failing that you need to take off your door card and have a look at the regulator motor. Disconnect the plug from the motor and get a battery charger 12v. plug the charger into the mains. put a couple of pins into the crocodile clips on your charger and carefully touch the regulator motor connections and see if the window motor runs. I have tested regulator motors many times this way. if the motor works then its either a wiring fault (oc) or your switch.

Good luck.
