just a quick one if anybody knows whats going on or experienced similar. Had a new exhaust and decat fitted a while back in september 2014 no eml light until the other night going down the motorway it popped on and not affecting the way the car drives so I am assuming it must be the decat but find it a bit odd that it has taken this long (6+ months). Any ideas or should I get it plugged in for diagnostics ?

Sometimes the light comes on straight away after having a decat fitted , sometimes it might be a few days or even weeks . It won't affect how the car runs . You can buy a cheap OBDII code reader off ebay or a OBDII bluetooth adapter and use torque on an android phone to reset it . It might come back on again , it might not . Below are just examples of what you can use . You might find them a little bit cheaper if you have a good look .

K tec racing sell a mini cheat cat for decats that screws in between the rear lambda sensor and the decat pipe
Bit expensive but keeps the car fooled
