Fast Chip

  PH Quick
Looking at getting my clio chipped and reading through some of the old threads some people have recommended to get a fast chip kit and do it yourself. Does anyone know how easy the kits are to use, and what sort of results can you expect. Looked on their web site and i'm not sure which one of the kits would be the one for me.

Cheers All

iv just ordered the RS Tuner mate - you get generic maps with or sent via email from them to replace your original map...

yeh will do mate...it is cheaper than the alternative of taking your car to superchips or somewhere who will upload a generic map anyway. the only time i can see that u would get a custom remap is if uv had tons of work done ie. cams, head ported/flowed, ITB's etc etc

Folk only buy this kit because its cheap, simple as.
Why spend twice as much money when you can get the same thing for half the price.....maybe you have money to throw away:dapprove:

Because if something goes wrong with this kit your right royaly screwed as help is in another country plus its a generic map.

Certainly dont have money to throw away but mapping is a seriously important key in engine tuning not to be done on the cheap (imo)

You can back up your existing ECUs current settings before you upload the new one. So not to sure how you can royally screw it worst comes to worst then you just put the old one back on. Custom maps are fine if youv had serious work done but for mild breathing mods this is your best bet

i dont think rolling road tuning is all that effective on n/a engines with minor breathing mods such as airfilter and exhausts. unless you are trying to squeeze every last bhp out of the car the tried and tested maps will usually be fine. Hence why i've got the group n map from k tec. i'm more than happy with it and have had absolutly no problems with it in the 6 odd months it's been installed.

If i was running throttle bodies or mad cams then you have no choice to have a custom map set up for the car.

I have however had loads of problems with a generic map on my old mini cooper s (forced induction) therefore if i was doing modifications similar to that done on the mini (reduced pulley larger throttle body, larger intercooler etc etc i'd definatly get it mapped properly. p.s. avoid superchips they custom mapped my mini and it still blew up twice afterwards!
