i had my exhasut emission light on took it to get checked

and the guy said it was the upstream o2 senser he reset it said it should be fine now i got my new exhaust on but it also came up saying ( cruise control speed limiter, fault on one of the two break pedal contacts what does that mean

micro switch that sits just above the brake pedal will either need adjust/cleaning or a new one fitting. if you stick your head in the footwell you should see it

how much is a new o2 sensor ?

think there about 50 (maybe more) for a genuine one you can probably get it cheaper off ebay if i was me i would get a decent one as they get mega hot

is it still ok to run the car with a faulty sensor, its just had the zaust fitted so shoudlnt coz any problems.

i would of thought it would be ok for abit as long as you have no cat, also depends how bad the sensor is as it switches between approx 50mv and 750mv, as it gets knackered the differance will probably get smaller you can test the voltage at the ecu with a multimeter

just forked out around £600 on the car already only bought it on the 19th for the girlfriend

£600 sounds a bit harsh, take it you have no warranty with the car

its an o4 plate from a private seller

found out the exhaust was fuuucked so paid 360 for new one then to get it fitted then had to pay to get it on the diagnostic machine and decided to get two knew front tyres coz of the lack of grip on the old ones.

suppose its swings and roundabouts as cars are normally cheaper buying privately, anyway good luck getting it fixed

my exhaust emissions light went off today by itself, it must have been coz i let it get so low on petrol ( dirt bottom of the tank i reckon ) but i put some v power in it took it for a good drive and the light went off

do u reckon the garage were talkin s**t just trying to con me sayin it was the o2 sensor ?

maybe they were, with a bit of luck it might stay out, i have heard of people having problems after running low on fuel. also when i put v power in my car it was hard to start but is fine with anything else that might just be my car though

it was just a treat giving it some v power it wont be happening very often.

there is some stuff on the market called cataclean costs about 17 pound for a bottle but its really good stuff makes alot of differance with performance and economy and also cleans cataletic converter, o2 sensors etc

it might help with my crap fuel consumption too, still only gettin 19.4mpg but always in the city. Anytime i drive any distance it starts to creep up into mid 20s and on motorway 36-40mpg

will buy some soon, need to replace back exhaust mounts 1st they rotted away at one side

where is the best place to buy it , halfrods ?

they don't do it at my halfrouds, they sell it at wilco if you have one near you or ebay for £15 a bottle. if your getting 20mpg then it is more than likely o2 sensor dirty/knackered.

what exhaust did you go for mate?

for the exhaust mounts check out k-tec or just pack them old sockets and cable ties

i got the ktec supersports ( janspeed loud )

the side thats fooked is held on with cable ties

u sure im not just getting 20mpg coz im driving around the city never anywhere else, when i bought the car and drove it 7 hours home i got 37mpg so it must be rite

so u reckon this stuff will help my fuel consumption ? just a bit of a nightmare stoppin at red lights every 20 feet if that and thats constantly, i never get to go a long drive for the mpg to get high again

i sat in traffic round the m25 for a good 3 hours after visiting k-tec racing and was getting average 44mpg for the journey which included a short race with a megane 225. if it doesn't help fuel economy then it will most likely need a new o2 sensor.

grrrr, well two days ago before i fitted my new zaust at any red light my mpg would drop rougly 0.1 every 10 seconds and after my new exhaust was fitted that seems to have changed, almost made me cry every red light watching my mpg drop lower and lower

44mpg sounds really good but some of the guys on here say they average in the mid 20's.

if the light does come back on will get the sensor replaced and its also due a servive in 2000 miles which may be causing it problems

i get better mpg out of mine than my escort td and i don't drive it like an old woman either. when you get it serviced make sure they use 5w40 oil as thats apparantly quite important. have you checked the obvious like brakes binding? when i got mine both back brakes were seized

no never checked the brakes, it was rarely driven by the previous owner it was on sorn.

if it was not used regularly then it might be worth checking them

i will have a look tomorrow, i just know as soon as i get onto a decent road and dont stop my mpg goes rite up to 30 and above quicky
