I get this! Automatic update - We will restart your computer. Nice of them to get me an option of whether i want to restart my computer now. Don't they know i'm on CS! FFS!

It does give you a lot of warning though. Over 14 minutes in this case.

Right click the clock in the bottom right corner, change the date to yesterday.
BOOM! You've now got 24 hours to close everything down.

(Not sure if this'll work tbh, it used to work on someone else's XP machine to stop a virus from auto shutting down the computer through a similar popup)

Nightmare. That will take off around 1 minute of your life due to the massively long process of restarting your machine. Add to that the 14 minutes or so that it gave you to close down whatever applications you were running. Ouch, hope you coped ok with that limit.

You can stop a machine from restating like this and do it when you want.

Command you need to type in the run box is "sc stop wuauserv"
