First paint clean

  Clio RT 1.4
Well I'd washed it a few times but decided to have a blast with the Meguiars stuff I've been stocking over the last few months:

Products:

* M's Gold Class Shampoo
* Halfords Sheepskin mash mitt
* M's Clay kit (with the quick detailer and terry cloth)
* M's 3 step system (paint cleaner, polish and wax)
* Cheapo wheel cleaner stuff from Tesco's (not their own brand though)
* M's tyre gel (that purple stuff)
* AutoGlym Car Glass Polish
* T-cut
* M's large waffle weave drying magnet thing cloth

What I did:

1. Sprayed wheels with wheel cleaner and aggitated muck with wheel brush. Then I rinsed off before deciding the wheel trims would look better if washed after being taken off the car.

2. Hosed the car down with a low stream then using the legendary two bucket system, I washed the whole car with the sheep mit.

3. Rinsed the car with a low stream again then dried the car with the drying magnet towel.

4. Used the clay bar kit to removed crap from the paint.

5. Used the "Step 1" paint cleaner then removed excess with the terry cloth.

6. Used the "Step 2" polish then removed excess with the terry cloth.

7. Used the "Step 3" carabuna wax then removed excess with the terry cloth.

8. Cleaned glass inside and out with the glass polish.

9. Took wheel trims off and t-cutted the breakdust staining off and applied some polish.

10. Gel coated the tyres with the purple tyre dressing.

11. Drive somewhere local to take "arty" photos of newly aquired shine.

I haven't got a machine polisher a and there are a few scrapes and rust that's been on the car since I got it a few weeks ago.

What do you guys think?

PS: It was the first ever time I have clayed a car and used all those products on it... Normally I sponge off with cheapo shampoo and finish off with a bit of turtle wax. And I forgot to do the roof at all

I know I'm asking for, but as I've heard it mentioned once or twice.....what is the legendary two bucket method?:eek:

Oh, sorry for the semi hijack

Get two buckets, fill one with plain water and one with your favourite suds. Using the hose, rinse the car the use a wash mitt in the soapy water. Clean a panel of your car then put the mitt in the plain water. Rub it with your other hand to get grit out. Dip it back in the soapy water. Repeat until car washed. Easy!

It stops you washing the car with dirty water to reduce swirl marks etc.

I see.
I'll have to add that to my washing regime.

I currently rinse with hose, wash one panel at a time, with only one bucket tho, and rinse the panel immediately, particularly in warm weather to stop any soap residue settling.

One more question for you washing experts, what are the advantages sponge v mit and is a sponge a sponge or is there more to it than that?

Sponges force any dirt against your paint. Washmitts draw it into the pile away from the paint making them safer.

Nice work on the car Liebo.
