Fitting TRS Tow Strap!!

Just buy a bolt that has the same size thread as the tow eye that is in there at the moment.... M16 x 50mm i think

Digging up an old thread instead of making a new one. Would it be possible to cut the ring off my current tow eye hook as I have a spare?
