Flashing Emission Light

I noticed yesterday that when having been sat in traffic for quite some time the little engine management light (above the over-rev/shift light) was flashing on and off. Once I was moving again it disappeared.

Today I was sat in queue at the petrol station and it pops up again.

The handbook said it wasn't anything to worry about but I'd quite like to know what has caused it?

Fitted a Milltek Cat Back a few weeks ago and it needs sealing properly from the join at the cat as I think I can hear it blowing.

Mine started doing this on Friday and again today.

Because of recent events though I know the emissions aren't 100% for definite so I'm not worrying about it. Might be a knackered cat

mine did this when i had a miss fire. it then stayed on permantly then just went off:S .
still dont know what it was to this day and car runs fine.

my old 182 did this the whole time i owned it (18 months) so i wouldnt worry i never had a problem

Kool, thanks for the replies.

The handbook did just say 'emissions light' and that it isn't worth worrying over. If it stays on or 'STOP' is shown within it then I'll be getting it checked over.

There are 2 lambda sensors, mite possibly be one of them playing up, or poss ur engine is breathing in too much hot air

my warning light flashing had look under inlet manifold could see number 3 fom gearbox ht lead was raised more than the other three couldnt push it down flush!!! recently had the leads and plugs changed cos it spat one out had a heli coil job done on it wtf going on shud it stick up a bit??
