front door speaker cables

Just wanna know how is it possible to pass the wires from the speakers from the front door into the car.

The rubber things on the side of the door is hell to remove.

HELP!

Cheers guys.

yer drill a hole in next to the plug where the cables go into the car from the door. youl have to do it from the inside of the car.

then put a grommet in and cut a hole in the tube going inot the door and run the cables into this.

Its a nightmare to fit new speaker cable to front doors, the existing tube for the cable in too small for any decent cable! Drilling is your only option, or keep the standard cable!

yeah as spam said just use the standard stuff, the 8 gauge speaker wire or what ever size they supply you with is way OTT. The OEM stuff wont effect SQ at all, only risk is the wire could melt if your pumping serious watts into your speakings. Im running Momo polks componets up front with 100rms into each (2x 100rms) sounds fecking amazing.

I had the same worries as you when fitting, but after speaking with me dad he just said use the exsiting stuff, never regreted it since.

James.

i would keep an eye on using the existing stuff, it must get fing hot!!! it will effect sq, it will increase resistance in the cable ect which isnt good.

IMO- its worth changing it but thats me

its just that i wanted to power the fronts from my amp (which was nicked and now need to replace).

i dont wanna take the dash off or anything major.

is it a male & female plug on the clio? or just a simple grommet with cables going thru? coz ive gotta do the same this weekend... might just drill some holes!

andrewm - running 100rms into my fronts, with decent cable, it gets warm, so im sure the thin stuff would melt, this happened to a guy off CAD not running much, youl be surprised, plus its not to do with the speaker its running into its the power in the cable.

Off the top of my head my speakers are getting75rms each upfront and thats fine on OE stuff.

Reckon youll be fine.

i looked into this and didnt fancy drilling holes at all! just using standard wire wit alpine 17cm type r components

On the MK2 Clio the wire from the door to the A-pillar is a separate piece with a connector plug at each end (http://www.mcmillan-uk.com/clio/plug.jpgwww.mcmillan-uk.com/clio/plug.jpg), so it is not possible to pass any cables through it. The only option is to drill holes and fit another rubber tubing thing, or use the existing wiring.

well i always recommend using aftermarket cabling, the stock wiring is good enough for the stock speakers, and thats all

get some nice thick cable in there, be brave and attack the doors with pilot hole, then expand the hole to the required size, insert grommet, slide cable through

job done

but then again im an audiophille

So am I, but at the end of the day its a car and you will always have engine/road noise so I dont see the point of going too daft getting a perfect sound. Much better spending the cash on a decent system for the house like http://www.mcmillan-uk.com/clio/Pict1940.jpgwww.mcmillan-uk.com/clio/Pict1940.jpg - which has some very good speaker cables on it.

sadly i spend more time in my cars than i do at home, so ICE is where i concentrate my efforts

got soo much ICE lying round my bedroom, because i have no car ATM :(

lol, i to have a lot of home audio and therefor have a lot of car audio! and ive even started to stray into using home audio cables for my car audio! higher quality I think... got a set of monster interconnectors for one of my amps, they sound alright!

anyways back to the topic, im gonna change my cables soon & gonna have to drill a hole but its hardly in an obvious place.... im just worried about the cables being really obvious once doing this as mine are purple and silver twisted speaker cable! so i think i will either just tape it up with electric tape or actually put one of those rubber covers they have in the doors as standard to cover them from eyes.
