Gap between oil sump and engine block?

Hi all,

When replacing my radiator recently, I noticed a rather large gap between what I think is the sump and the block (still kinda new to this stuff).

Is this normal, or does it need some attention?

Cheers,
Ray

Normal, the gasket is rubber and does not fully compress when fitted
I think this might be the first time I haven't had to add another problem to the ever-growing list of things to fix haha. I will point out, however, that around the rest of the box it does touch the engine. Maybe the gasket is getting a bit old? I've currently got a decent oil leak, but it looks like it's the valve gasket and its getting done when the parts arrive.
